Prepared with everyone's favourite seasoning spices, like cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, cloves, and allspice, these Sugared Gingerbread Donuts are baked and rolled in sugar while still warm out of the oven. Indulgent, sweet, rich, and delicious, these donuts taste like Christmas!
Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. Lightly spray a donut pan with cooking spray and set aside.
In a large bowl, use a hand-held mixer to blend together the milk, sour cream, molasses, and eggs.
Next, beat in the melted butter, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract.
Add the flour, baking powder, baking soda, nutmeg, ginger, cinnamon, allspice, cloves, and brown sugar. Beat into the wet ingredients.
Dump the entire batter into a large Ziploc bag. Cut one of the lower corners off the bag, and in a circular pattern, fill the donut pan about 3/4 way full. Tap the pan firmly on the kitchen counter to get the batter to settle into the pan.
Bake for 10 minutes.
In the meantime, melt the butter for the sugary coating. In a separate bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon, allspice, cloves, and ginger.
When the donuts are done, remove them from the oven and flip them out onto a wire cooling rack.
Working quickly, while the donuts are still warm, dip the donut into the melted butter to coat. Shake off the excess. Next, roll the donut into the sugar mixture until well coated.
Set the donut back onto the wire cooling rack to finish cooling.
