Made with a few simple ingredients, Irish Soda Bread is a great introduction to baking bread. It's a rustic and dense bread that's paired perfectly with soup!

Ingredients

all-purpose flour

tablespoon
sugar

baking soda

teaspoon
salt

cup
buttermilk,
plus 1 tablespoon
Instructions
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, baking soda, and sugar.
Pour in the buttermilk and stir together with a fork until buttermilk has been absorbed into the flour mixture.
Transfer to a lightly floured surface. Knead together to form a rustic oval shape. Do not need more than 30 seconds!
Place oval on baking sheet and score the top of the loaf with a sharp knife.
Bake for 40 minutes. Remove from oven and allow to cool for 20 minutes. Serve warm.
