Everyone loves pulled pork, but why should pork have all of the fun? My Slow Cooker Barbeque Pulled Beef is a perfect pork substitute – slowly roasted, tender shreds of beef, with exceptionally great flavours!
A good pulled beef recipe is a great recipe to keep on hand. I say this, not only because pulled beef is delicious, but because pulled beef is a recipe that lends itself to a million meal possibilities. Okay, maybe not a million, but many options for sure that can take the stress out of meal planning and preparation.
As you can see from the photographs, I wanted to showcase how easy it was to use up a large pot of Slow Cooker Barbeque Pulled Beef. Nachos was a perfect option. I just piled some of my favourite chips onto a small baking sheet and top it with some grated cheddar. Next, I plopped on spoonfuls of the pulled beef and baked the whole thing for just a few minutes. When baking nachos in the oven, I always follow this baking technique. Are you ready, Dear Reader? This is extremely complicated. #notreally
I place the baking sheet in the oven, close the door, and set my oven to bake at 350 degrees. Once my oven reaches 350 degrees, a little bell dings, and I take the nachos out. I never preheat my oven when baking nachos. I told you it was complicated. Ha!
Once they come out of the oven, I’ll top them with whatever I have on hand. Sometimes, it’s just a few diced tomatoes, some shredded lettuce, (I didn’t have any when I shot these photos!) a drizzle of sour cream, and a very, very large dollop of guacamole. I cannot get enough guacamole! I can eat it on anything – really, I can! I have one of the best guacamole recipes on my blog for all of you cilantro haters out there. You know who you are! Get the recipe here: Guacamole for Cilantro Haters. Now, serve this up with some extra sour cream, some green onions, and a side of good salsa, and you’re all set.
But, nachos is only one example of how one could use this Slow Cooker Barbeque Pulled Beef. Staying with the fast and easy theme, why not try pulled beef burritos? Add some pulled beef, chopped tomatoes and lettuce, some shredded cheese, maybe a bit of mexican rice, black beans, a bit of cilantro, etc. Or another idea would be to place a helping of the beef between two slices of bread with some good shredded cheese. Butter the bread and grill it for a pulled beef grilled cheese sandwich!
Even though this beef has a barbeque flavour, you can certainly add it to pasta. Toss some beef into a skillet with your favourite marinara. Add some cooked pasta and toss to coat. Easy as can be pasta dinner! Craving pizza? Spread some pizza sauce on a pre-baked, store-bought pizza crust. Top with cheese, red onions, and Slow Cooker Barbeque Pulled Beef. Bake at 400 degrees until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
My favourite way to eat Slow Cooker Barbeque Pulled Beef is the most common way. I like to pile it high onto a toasted burger bun. Then add some cheese and some extra barbeque sauce. Throw a pickle slice or two in there and serve it with a big helping of kettle chips. That’s my favourite way and now, Dear Reader, I’m officially hungry!
Whatever you decide, you have to make this pulled beef. It’s such a wonderful and easy dish to come home to after a long day at work and it takes very little effort to assemble and prepare. And, the recipe does make quite a lot, so it’s perfect for a large family. Of course, you can also freeze the leftovers too, if you have any left. But, if I were you, I would just place the leftovers in a food-safe container and place it in the refrigerator. This beef will be fine in the refrigerator for three or four days. That’s plenty of time to use it all up and try a few of the options I mentioned previously.
Or, you could make nachos several days in a row. Ha! I wouldn’t be one to complain. In fact, I have personally made myself nachos on back to back days more than once! And, I’m not just thinking about my college days either! I mean, come on! Just look at how delicious those nachos look!!! Oh, and just because you know how much I love the Pioneer Woman, I had to show you the beef cooking away in my PW Rose Shadow Slow Cooker!
Here’s the recipe, Dear Reader. I trust you will enjoy this Slow Cooker Barbeque Pulled Beef recipe just as much as I did. And, I ‘d love to hear from you. If you have an idea of how to use this beef in one of your recipes, leave me a comment and let me know! Enjoy!!

Slow Cooker Barbeque Pulled Beef
Ingredients
- 4 pounds sirloin beef tip roast
- 1 cup water
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 2 large onions, sliced
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 2 cups barbeque sauce
Instructions
- Whisk together the water, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, chili powder, garlic powder, and paprika. Pour mixture into slow cooker.
- Add onions and evenly distribute over the bottom of the slow cooker.
- Place the beef onto the onions. If the beef has been tied when purchased, remove the string and discard.
- Place a lid on the slow cooker and set temperature to low. Cook for 8 hours.
- Remove the beef from the slow cooker by lifting it out with two forks. Leave the onions behind. The beef will be falling apart at this point, but transfer the chunks of beef to a cutting board. Using the two forks, gently pulled the beef apart until it's all shredded. Return the beef to the slow cooker.
- Stir in two cups of barbeque sauce. Place the lid back on the slow cooker and cook for another hour.

Any particular bbq sauce that you recommend? Will definitely be trying this.

Hi Cathy, I usually don’t like to mention brands in my posts, because I don’t like to promote or push products if I’m not loyal to the product. When it comes to BBQ sauce, I do use a few different brands, but one of my favourites if Ray’s. It’s easy to find at Walmart. 🙂

For me, I went with homemade as I didn’t have any barbecue sauce at hand. I am a hands-on man when it comes to the kitchen. Even without the sauce, I reckon it would have been a lovely recipe. Might I have stumbled onto Canada’s best cook?
It was this: https://www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/sweet-spicy-barbecue-sauce/ that I used to baste the meat after shredding it. The combination was one spicy number and went absolutely well in tacos.

Thank you, Mikey. 🙂

Thank you for your Pulled Beef recipe. I’ve made it twice, and my family and friends have given it their complete approval! I took your suggestion, and I made nachos with the meat. Since I heated the nachos on my Traeger, the smokey flavor of the barbecue worked fabulously with the barbecue flavor of the meat. Best nachos ever!!! Since my husband doesn’t like a lot of fresh onion in recipes, one change I opted to try was to include a teaspoon of onion powder with the rub spices since I cut back on the amount of fresh onion. This worked well.

Thank you, Susan. I’m glad the pulled beef was family and friend approved! Isn’t it great on nachos??? 🙂

Can you cook on high for a bit (time restrictions)
byronethomas@gmail.com says
Yes, for sure! I usually use a low temperature when cooking meat in a slow cooker to help get the meat as tender as possible.

Just wondering if blade roast will work? Have some in the freezer
byronethomas@gmail.com says
Yes, it would work quite nicely! That’s the beauty of a slow cooker. 🙂

Can I use boneless chuck roast? If so, any recommended changes?

Great flavor! I used a venison roast. Will definitely make again.

I used my 8 qt pressure cooker to save 7 hrs on cooking time. Used Ray’s BBQ sauce as well to complete the dish. OMG! Nothing lost as far as tenderness or flavor!@
