Every good pizza starts with a good pizza crust, but without a good Homemade Pizza Sauce, that crust is just dough! This sauce has all the best pizza seasonings you need and more!

HOMEMADE PIZZA SAUCE
I’m obsessed with sauce. I swear, Dear Reader, I put sauce on almost everything I eat. It all started when I was a kid. Everything I ate had to have ketchup on it. Now, in my adult years, it’s all about homemade sauces and dips.
Last week, I shared my Copycat Big Mac Sauce recipe with you and it was very well received. Let’s see if you like my Homemade Pizza Sauce just as much. Sauces must be on the menu at everyone’s home these days, because my Donair Sauce recipe has been viewed quite often lately.
We make pizza quite often. In fact, I probably make pizza at least two or three times a month. My personal favourite is my version of a traditional Newfoundland pizza. John.e tends to favour the Grilled Veggie Pizza with the Cheese Crust. McKenna, on the other hand, is a plain Jane. She prefers just mushrooms and green olives. Yuck!

SAUCES AND DIPS – OH MY!
In our home, there are three of us. There is me, John.e, and McKenna. Two of us are dippers. We dip just about everything in a sauce of some type. It can be regular ketchup, like I mentioned above, or a home ranch dressing, or my cheddar green onion dip. It depends on what we’re eating.
If anything like pizza or cheesy bread sticks are involved, we always want a dip to go with it too. Do you dip your pizza crust in something before you eat it? Or are you like John.e who is a purist and stays away from dips?
Homemade Pizza Sauce is a great dipping option too. Leftover pizza sauce is great served warm with garlic bread. I used to work at Pizza Hut many, many years ago, and garlic bread with warm pizza sauce was often a break time meal for me.
The really great thing about making your own pizza sauce at home is that you can make it to suit your personal tastes. I remember the sauce at Pizza Hut being a little sweet, which I like, but I prefer some spiciness to balance out the sweetness. And, in our home, the sauce has to be thick and very flavourful!

HERE’S WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
- Tomato Sauce – This is most certainly the base for the sauce. Make your own or buy tomato sauce that has just tomatoes listed as the ingredients.
- Tomato Paste – The paste will boost the tomato flavour, but will also make your Homemade Pizza Sauce really thick.
- Olive Oil – Italians love olive oil and it helps to flavour this sauce.
- Garlic – Fresh garlic will give your pizza sauce so much flavour!
- Seasonings – Every sauce needs a good balance of salt and ground black pepper.
- Onion Flakes – The Italian seasoning will have some onion flavour in it, but not enough. Adding onion flakes will result in a better flavour with some texture too.
- Sugar – This helps to cut down the acidity of the tomatoes and adds just a little hint of sweetness.
- Italian Seasoning – I have a great Italian Seasoning Blend that I use all the time and it has everything you need to make a great tasting pizza sauce.
- Dried Red Chili Flakes – If you like heat, add in as much as you can handle, otherwise, you can skip this completely. I definitely add it to my sauce!

HOW TO MAKE HOMEMADE PIZZA SAUCE:
Are you ready for how simple this is??? It’s a no-bake, no-cook, no-boil sauce. Easy peasy, right!? Just dump all of the ingredients into a bowl and whisk them together until the sauce is uniform.
That’s it! It’s ready to use right away, but I like to transfer it to a mason jar and refrigerate it for at least two or three hours. The flavours all marry together well and I think the sauce tastes much better.

Lord Byron,
This is a fantastic pizza sauce. I will make this sauce over and over again, it is that good.
The recommendation to refrigerate before using was spot on. The flavor developed in ways that I did not expect.
I tend to favor garlic more than most, so I doubled the minced garlic. Other than that, I followed the recipe closely.
The pizza this evening was one of the best I have ever had, and it was because of the fantastic pizza sauce.
Thank you for your recipes, and your posts.
